Got foot odor? Try Mint Soles

Foot odor is one of those things that is present across all income strata. It’s quiet an embarrassing situation and very difficult to justify unless you are earning millions as a professional athlete. Just yesterday, I had a the worst taxi ride ever and believe me, I have been in some pretty bad taxis in Mumbai. This time the taxi driver in the middle of my ride decided to take his shoes off and within a matter of minutes the whole taxi was stinking so bad that I had to ask him to stop and get into another one.
In India (or other asian countries), there are several occasions when you are compelled to take your shoes off like at temples or at a friends place. Some offices and doctor’s cabin still have the “remove your shoes before entering” sign up. The taxi experience made me look for some sort of a preventive measure to avoid such awkward incidents. There are the regular foot lotion solutions but then you have to remember to put that lotion on everyday etc. And then there was light.
A Japanese company, S.A.I international manufactures a product that could be called Mint Soles. It’s basically an insole for your regular shoes that releases mint fragrance with every step you take while walking. This is one of those innovations that is born out of a dire necessity. The Japanese culture, like the Indian, makes people take their shoes off a lot. For example, a typical Japanese restaurant would ask you to take your shoes off before you dine. And the businessmen are very cautious about this fact when they take their foreign counterparts out for dinner. Each pair of the Mint insole provides freshness for about 6 months and costs around $29.
