India tourism’s new campaign

The Indian tourism authorities are set to project the resolute image of India to boost tourism in India. The new capmpaign, print and TV media,� will be launched on the 7th of January that’ll focus on how Indian’s are resolute inspite of terrorist attacks and also promote teamwork and unity whicle promoting various places in the country. A press release also mentions Global Meltdown being another theme that the ministry is using in its campaign.

�The campaign is expected to run in major international markets like US, Europe, Canada, Russia and CIS countries, Japan, China and Korea, Scandinavia, Australia and New Zealand. It will be backed by a television commercial and online campaign.

If you ask me, I am not so sure about using negative themes like terror attacks and global downturn to promote a country! How do you actually convince a person to visit a country while telling that terrorists attack it often. I say show them people on elephants, royal forts in rajasthan, and why aren’t we using specific shots of “artwork” from Khajuraho temple when we know that sex sells anything. Think about it!
