Tata Nano to launch on 3rd March?

According to Tata Nano, world’s cheapest car is likely to be launched on Mar 3 and the first recipients may be celebrities, including political leaders, social workers, sports stars and film stars. March 3 happens to be the birth anniversary of the group founder Jamsetji Tata and hence the launch date.

Some of the names discussed to get the Nano include Pratibha Patil, Sonia Gandhi, LK Advani, Manmohan Singh, Sania Mirza, Sachin Tendulkar, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, and of course their brand ambassador’s car like Aamir Khan, Ajay Devgan, and Kajol. Apparently, Tata has also reserved a car for Buddhadeb Bhattacarjee (whose state lost the Nano project) and Narendra Modi, the beneficiary of Bengal’s loss.

surprisingly these reports also say that this will help market the Tata Nano as common man’s car. Really? Gifting your product to celebrities will get you a brand recognition as a common man’s product? That’s a bit absurd. How about gifting these cars to the people who readily gave up their lands in Sanand? That would have been really great PR for Tata Nano.
