TCS hints at lay offs

TCS CEO, Mr Ramadorai announced today that there would be no salary hikes and that employees should expect job cuts. Just a few days back TCS had announced that it had put 1000 employees “under the scanner” so this shouldn’t be a big surprise. A similar announcement was made by Infosys when they put 5000 Infosys employees “under the scanner”. Mr. Ramadorai also said that TCS has stopped lateral hiring and is also looking at the variable pay component.
Now that even TCS is hinting at job cuts, it’s just a matter of time that the layoff hit IT industry in India. Let’s see which of the top companies is the first one to do that.
