Slumdog Millionnaire…The Oscar Race

Voila! Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire has made it to the Oscars in istyle. It has been nominated for 10 Oscars including ‘Best Picture’. After winning a few Golden globes here and a few critics awards there, this movie which has a host of Indian actors has been recognised by what is widely believed as the most coveted award in motion picture history (okay, in commercial cinema).
A R Rahman’s serene Buddha like smile greeted us in all the newspapers about a week ago. I wonder if he will make it two in a row - a Grand Slam of sorts. After winning the Golden Globe for ‘Best Original Score’, he is a favourite to bag that bald golden trophy. Generally, a reticent character, I am keen to see his reaction on the night of the Oscars when the presenters open that envelope to read, ‘And the Oscar for the Best Original Score goes to…’
I will not be surprised if Rahman does a Cuba Gooding Junior
