How rich is your Lok Sabha Candidate?

One of the things that a candidate needs to do while filing nominations is divulge their networth. Infact, its not just their properties but also how much money and property is owned by their spouses and any other business or partnerships that they might be in. This is nothing new but going through these numbers is quiet amusing. Here’s a list of the significant political powerhouses and their networth.
The NCP chief, Sharad Pawar, filed his nomination stating his (inlcuding his wife’s holdings) property to be worth 8.7 crores where as his daughter, Supriya Sule, who is contesting for an LS seat in Pune is worth 52.73 crores which makes think about the Children’s Saving Plan Sharad Pawar had signed up for. Oh wait, I know. It’s called “Become a politician and then the Chairman of BCCI” savings plan. Tremendous returns, I am told.
Similarly Prakash Jha, the film producer, contesting from Bihar’s West Champaran constituency has declared assets work 55 crores.Union minister Ramvilas Paswan has declared family assets worth 1.15 crores. I wonder which ministry he has?
If you expected your democratically elected candidate to be worth more, then you most probably are be right. According to estimates, A value close to $1.4 trillion (Rs 71 Lakh crores, dont ask me how many zeros) in black money is stored in Swiss Bank accounts. Infact, BJP has made an election promise that they will try to get most of this money back if elected which the congress isnt’t buying into.
