Sri Lankan cricket team attacked in Pakistan

After scoring 600+ runs in a test match against Pakistan, the Sri Lanka team’s mood was changed this morning when gunmen attacked the bus carrying Sri Lankan cricket player to the ground. AK 47 wielding gunmen attacked convoy of Sri Lankan and Pakistan cricket team.
The injured players are: Thilan Samaraweera, Tharanga Paranavitana, Kumar Sangakkara, Ajantha Mendis, Mahela Jayawardene and Thilan Thushara. Seven policemen also lost their lives.
Where did it happen?
As per the initial reports, the incident happened outside Gaddafi stadium when the team bus was passing the Liberty Roundabout (what an irony!). Around 12 men with automatic weapons were waiting in a white car and started shooting indiscriminately.
What’s next?
The tour is obviously cancelled. Also, Pakistan had only invited Sri Lanka after India withdrew sighting security reasons. Just imagine, what would have happened if it were the Indian team!
This is the 2nd time cricketing world is in shock in which Pakistan is closely connected. The last time was when Bob Woolmer, then Pakistan cricket coach, was found dead during the World cup. Ball tampering allegations, drug abuse by Pakistan players, Bob woolmer murder and now attempt to kill an entire cricekt team. What’s next? This might (and I hope) be the end of Pakistan cricket! The aruguement that we need to disinguish between the terrorists and the people of pakistan doesnot hold ground. The citizens needs to get their nation in order before they start playing sports. If South Africa was banned during apartheid why not ban pakistan for its terrorism?
Update: Sri lanka team was air lifted by Pakistan Air Forcef rom Gaddafi stadium and is being taken to Dubai airport.
