5 Best Free iPhone Apps

By Aditya Mhatre at 24 January, 2009, 12:02 pm

I recently upgraded the firmware on my iPhone update to version 2.2 and have just finished a deep dive into the App Store. I spent atleast 3 hours in the iPhone App store and wished that some one had created a list of all the great free apps in the store. So here it is - a list of top free iphone applications.

  1. iPhone bloggin tools: WriteStuff runs on wordpress and I am currently sitting in a mumbai local train and writing this post uaing the wordpress iPhone App. The Wordpress iPhone App is compatible with wordpress.com blogs as well as self hosted wordpress blogs. I had to go through some trouble accessing my self hosted blog because the template I was using so If the wordpress iPhone App doesn’t work for your blog, try the BlogWriter Lite app. It’s super easy to use but not as flexible as the Wordpress iPhone App.  Typepad users need not be disappointed and can use the Typepad iphone app.
  2. Iexpenseit: this is a very simple app that let’s you keep track off your expenses and gives a quick view of you bank account balance.
  3. Evernote: The Evernote iPhone App is the iPhone version of Evernote desktop application. The coolness lies in the sync feature. The native iPhone application doesn’t allow you to sync notes to your desktop and that’s the gap that Evernote plugs.
  4. Twinkle: After trying about 3 iphone Twitter application, Twinkle stood out completely for its usability and features. The best iPhone Twitter application on the Internet. Look no more just download twinkle. Period.
  5. Fring: Fring iPhone App lets you chat/VOIP with your friends on Gtaik, MSN, Skype, Yahoo, AOL and other SIP services. The application just simply works no matter wheher you are on Edge/2G or wi-fi
