Okay, brace yourself and get ready for this. This year CES 2008 innovation of the year award goes to a system developed by AutoPage that lets you log into your car remotely. So basically, after installing this system which will cost between $150-$250, you can remotely start your car, roll the windows, back up, or even open the bonnet of your car. Now, you may ask why would I want to do that. The simple answer is because I can!! You can do this using any smart phone.
Now, agreed that the above mentioned features have a high coolness index rather than a high utility index but it does come with a few useful features which in the current Indian scenario will be very useful. There have been around 10 stories since the new years started about youngsters paying the ultimate price trying to satisfy their need for speed. Autopage C3 system sends a text message to an assigned cell number when the car crosses a particular speed limit. The AutoPage site doesn’t mention anything but it would be really cool if the system could remotely reduce the speed of the car as well.
Other practical use of the car which I liked the most is that the system will send the owner an SMS if the car moves more than 25 feet (stolen, towed etc.) and then shows the owner its location every five minutes using GPS.
Now you can wipe the drool of your face…
