Digg on sale?

About a year back, Kevin Rose, founder of Digg was on the cover of business Week magazine with the headline - “This kid is worth 60 Million”.
But I have a good news and a bad news for you. THhe Bad news is that Kevin Rose is not a kid, he’s 30 and the good news is that is not worth $60M but $300M or even more. Rumours are going wild that digg is about to be sold for $300M - $400M. This time its not the usual suspects (google, yahoo, Microsoft) who are interested in the purchase but its the media companies (TV as well as newspaper) who are now realising that they need to have a significant online presence.

According to rumors, The New York Times and Washington are the prospective buyers. Apart from the fact that DIgg has a $100 million advertising deal with Microsoft, the site will be a good addition to either of the companies because they already have the stats about the traffic digg drives to their web platform. It is a known fact that the Digg community is highly sensitive about changes to Digg.com but this time they have been quieter. I hope that who ever buys Digg will have the sense on not changing a lot on the site.
