Google buying Skype?

There is a rumour floating in the Silicon valley that Google might be interested in buying skype from eBay. There are a lot of reasons that Google might be interested in buying Skype. It’s not very difficult to see the synergies of this deal.
Google has been very interested in the mobile market. Their interest is evident through the launch of their open source mobile operating system called Android and their willingness to spend billion for the wireless spectrum in the US. Skype has also launched mobiles phones which would be used to make VOIP calls, this service is a natural extension to Google’s plans.Unhappy ebay share holders: Every blogger in the world tried to decipher the reason why ebay was buying Skype and the answer still remains elusive. The decision to purchase StumbleUpon was again questioned by everyone. eBay, once, was looked upon as an e-commerce giant but lately it’s turning into a holdings company and the shareholders are not too pleased with that. Selling Skype to Google would be an opportunity for Meg Whitman, CEO of eBay, to win a few hearts.
So over all it doesn’t seem to be a bad idea for Google to buy Skype given the huge cash reserves that its sitting on. They could buy it as a Christmas gift for themselves!!
