Google makes up for Gmail downtime

By Aditya Mhatre at 25 February, 2009, 10:08 am

You might have noticed that Gmail was down for several hours a yesterday and for some it might have been a welcome relief from the email clutter in their inbox. But the problem is that Gmail services businesses as well and an email outgage might turn into a big problem for a small business.
I am not going to go on about the gmail failure because finally humans work at Google and I am not surprised that is happened. But it’s important how Google handled the PR post outage.

So far, Google has done a very good job. They have not only published what caused the downtime but has also announced that it will be giving 15 days free service to all the businesses, government agencies and other subscribers who pay for the Google Apps. Not a lot of people are aware that Google sells a fancier version of Gmail as part of a software bundle that costs $50 annually per user. This is the second time Google is offering services for free to paying subscribers.Google offered a 15-day credit to compensate for a less severe email breakdown last August.

I hope they don’t make a habit out of it!

I just want to express how disappointed I am in the way gmail has treated my acct. I have had problems 2 times in the last 2 months. The first time I was helped after tremendous frustrating 2 days. I filled out the proper form and was helped. I now am experiencing the same problem unable to sign on. I have filledf out 2 forms with the same info as previous problems and was told they didn’t know me and I would have to create a new account which I have done twice with no solution to my problem. I am on my last nerve with this situation. I have lost all my emails and some important info. Pls someone out there with technology pls help me. I don’t know what else I can do.My user name on this acct is barbarabilgail@gmail.com and I have had this acct for about 4 or 5 years
