iPhone in India

According to a posting on Engadget, the new iPhone hack will allow users in 90 countries, including India, to be able to use iPhone in their home country. As reported, the hacked iPhone will be able to work with Airtel, Hutch and Idea network in India.

The iPhone without a doubt was the most hyped product ever that I have witnessed. I wasn’t around when Apple launched the Mac or Lisa but nothing came as close to what it was a few months back. Apart from the great featured that it has, the tech enthusiasts were not very appreciative of the fact that Apple has chosen to release a completely locked iPhone. This meant that users could neither install 3rd party application nor use it with any other network providers other than AT&T.

Apple iPhone has so far been released only in the US and all the people in other parts of the world are still drooling over the photos on the internet. This got the hackers community all excited and the race to become the first to hack the iPhone started the second the first iPhone was sold. And finally a couple of weeks back the hack was complete.

The hack allows iPhone can be used on networks other than AT&T in the US and several other network providers in many different countries. So until Apple decided to have pity on Indians, the only way out for us to have the iPhone will be asking someone travelling from the US to get one for us and then hack it.
