Microsoft enters Healthcare after Google

Steve Ballmer has a dream. Who said that the right is reserved with entrepreneurs? This CEO of Microsoft feels that the future lies in Health! While many say that he has the right to remain silent as much as he has the right to dream! He says that his vision will soon be fulfiled when Microsoft enters this very delicate and not so computer friendly health sector which Google tried to tinker with unsuccessfully. Microsoft wants to provide targeted search capabilities where people can search for the ailments, symptoms, remedies, etc on the web. In other words, a Google for the health centre!
The US health sector is a baggage of paper work and it will be quite a task for Microsoft to get its virutal hands around it. It plans to unveil ‘vertical search’ capabilities which allows for better search results when one queries for a disease. Microsoft recently acquired Medstory, a vertical search engine which focuses on health care. Like the banking industry, Microsoft plans to store billions of bytes of data in a safe which doctors and patients can access alike. Security issues shall be at the core of the discussion is what you may feel. But, spectics are laughing this whole exercise off. They say It’s simply not possible to change the old habits of the health domain.
