Firefox Tip : Setting multiple homepages
By Aditya Mhatre at 7 April, 2008, 5:38 am
These days I find myself going to a few web services like sitemeter.com (to check visitors to Theindicast.com), My Adsense account, feedburner.com, and of course Google reader every time I launch my browser. This might not be the case with everyone but a lot of people have similar surfing habits.
The most conventional way of doing this is to set up a homepage in the browser and bookmark the other websites but that would mean 3 clicks every time I open the browser. I learnt a neat trick a few days back. The task at hand is to set up the browser in such a way that it opens up multiple pages on launch.
To set multiple homepages in your Firefox browser, go to the screen where you set up the homepage (the reason I didn’t type the steps is to avoid confusion between mac and windows users) and type in “http://www.site1.com|http://www.site2.com|http://www.site3.com” that’s it. Notice the “|” after each URL.
The next time you open your browser, site1.com would load in first tab, site2.com in second tab and site3.com in third tab. No more repeated clicks!
