The Curious case of my City Roads

By Guest Blogger at 18 May, 2010, 1:46 pm

If you are one of those fortunate ‘Me Mumbaikar’ then you must have witnessed one of 21st century’s great experiments being carried out by none other than the reverent political babus of our city. Yes the same babu who is known for his inefficiency and corruptness.

The way I can see they have almost discovered a panacea for the problem which even the big powers of the world are struggling to find a cure for. The problem of creating employment! It is such a simple but ingenious solution that you cannot help but marvel at its simplicity.

Just like a nuclear reaction this solution can sustain itself through chain reaction and create employment 365 days a year.

You are asking what is it? Ok, please try to remember a road that you have seen for a long time without any digging activity going on right in the middle of it. I can bet no one can remember such a thing. You must be one of those who curse the people who you know are behind that digging, right? I don’t blame you. Earlier even I used to do the same thing when every time the road to my office is built and I used to feel so happy driving on that smooth road for 1 or 2 months and suddenly one day out of the blue they started digging that road and again I was back to whirling my car from right to left and somehow cover the distance between two straight points.

But now that I have realized the genius thinking that has gone behind it I stopped my cursing and simply bowed in front of these great minds of our times.
Thanks to this great experiment, we will soon become ( and I don’t have any doubt about it) one of the best country in the world for producing such world class talent pool for digging and rebuilding roads.

The workers are being trained day and night to dig one of the best roads and make a mess out of it and building them again. No other country in the world can provide such on the job training.

The government machinery is working overnight to ensure that the workers get a varied experience by providing them with all kind of roads and streets imaginable to dig and rebuild.

The drivers are also not complaining as they are getting world class training in driving in one of the most challenging terrains right in the city. They need not venture out far away like some other country folks to experience the thrill of driving. Even the creators of XBOX360 and Playstation have spent months driving on these roads to improve upon their existing street car games.

The workers and the drivers community are doing all they can to give back to the people who have done them such a great service. All the workers religiously go for voting and on the part of the people who drive in the cars, they ensure that they stay in their air conditioned homes and don’t step out for voting.
This gratitude of the people has given a great boost to this social experiment of our political fraternity. The experiment is being carried out successfully all over the country now.

When I see the developed nations leaders   worrying about the increasing unemployment rate, I can’t help smiling because I know my country’s leaders will never face such a problem.
