Top 10 KK Songs

Krishnakumar Menon popularly known as KK, is a present day singer. His body of work extends from Telugu, Tamil to Hindi films. If music means sculpting silence, then KK is the perfect sculptor. Here are my Top 10 KK songs:
10. Pyaar ke pal: Let us start from the beginning. After doing many ad jingles for the likes of Leslie Lewis, KK got a breakthrough with his 1999 album, ‘Pal’. The song, Pyaar ke pal was just the beginning of a successful career that this cult singer (I say this because though he is such a fabulous singer, he doesn’t quite enjoy the popular status of a Sonu Nigam or Udit Narayan.) Anyways, Pyaar ke pal became a hit and KK got the launch pad that he needed! The song in itself speaks about timeless moments in one’s life. If you haven’t heard it, give it a listen. It’s beautiful.
9. Alvida: Now we come to my current favourite track from the movie, Metro. Alvida is vintage KK starting from low notes to the high notes that he hits at the climax of the song. Hear it and you will be blown away!
8. Meri Jaan: Another great track from Metro. The Classic KK song … The beauty of the track is in the way KK has improvised some of the lyrics, in a way
that only he can do. Perfect song for night time listening…
7. Labon Pe: Taken from the movie Bhool Bhulaiyaa, the song is a haunting melody, (as the movie is in itself) KK has given the Urdu lyrics in the song great body. The way the song changes gears is amazing.
6. Seedhey Saadhe Dhang se: Ok so this is not what everyone will quite agree on, but I have to add it since I so much loved the movie. This song is from one of my favourite movies, Socha na tha. Given the context in which it appears in the movie (The song has Abhay Deol proposing his girl friend while he is still mad after Ayesha Takia). A simple song with simple lyrics. Anybody could have sung the song but only KK could have sounded so good…
5. Such keh raha hain deewana: Taken from the movie, Rehna Hai tere dil main (the movie is a remake of the classic Gautham Menon Tamil film, Minnale, starring Madhavan). The song is about a jilted lover expressing his distress for the way in which his ladylove has left him in a lurch. In one word HeartBreaking… (Image Sourc: http://userserve-ak.last.fm)
4. Yaaron: Ok so let us come back to KK’s first album, Pal. This album also featured the cult classic ‘Friendship song,’ Yaaron. What a song!!! Reminds each of us of the times that we have spent with all our friends, right through school and college. An Indian version of Summer of’69? (Yes it is! Reminds us of the ‘Best days of our lives’).
3. Aaawarapan Banjarapan: Featured in the movie, Jism (music by the awesome M.M Kreem), the song in itself is a haunting one. Only K.K could have sung it with so much passion and pain. After hearing this song if you haven’t been a K.K fan, you definitely will become one.
2. Tu Aashiqui hain: Featured in the movie Jhankaar Beats, another awesome album, featuring the timeless ‘Suno Na’ by Shaan and music by Vishal-Shekhar, the song, Tu Aashiqui hain is an ode to LOVE. It compares love to GOD. The song just tugs at your heart-strings. Classy and beautiful.
1. Tadap Tadap Ke: This has to be KK’s most awesome song. Featured in the movie, Hum Dil de chuke sanam, the song talks about a lover’s yearning for his ladylove. KK’s first hit film song (he got a Filmfare nomination for it), the way he sounded in this song has not been paralleled by him as yet…
